Jesse Sprinkle Joins WBUCC Team

jesse-sprinkleWest Bloomfield UCC has a new partner-in-faith!

National recording artist, international missionary, alternative/hip-hop producer, husband and father Jesse Sprinkle is WBUCC’s new Senior Youth Director. His focus will be turning faith into meaningful action among 14-19 year olds of the church and surrounding communities. He is well equipped for the task.

Jesse is a founder of the Paradise Uganda project, which uses music and face-to-face contact to reach, assist and inspire street children in the city of Kampala, Uganda. He has also been active in the Ugandan Water Project and in independent missions to Belize.

Born in Seattle, Washington, Jesse joined the Christian alternative music scene at the tender age of 13. Forming the pioneering band Poor Old Lu with his brother Aaron and other gifted musicians, the group found national success, and released eight albums between 1990 and 2002. He then played with bands like Demon Hunter, Morella’s Forest and Dead Poetic, and lent his considerable drumming talents to popular Christian touring bands like Kutless and Starflyer 59.

Jesse now owns and operates Bluebrick Recording Studios in Avon, NY. He is a man of frank honesty, deep faith and profound passion. We will officially welcome him on Sunday, September 14th during our 10 a.m. worship.

It was a Big Ol’ Lawn Party

What a morning! Service was held outdoors for Pentecost Sunday, followed up by the official launch of dbdb’s “Awakening“, with the brand-new album performed in its entirety. The late spring weather was perfect and the atmosphere was made all the more festive with chicken barbeque and a bouncy house for the young’uns. Enjoy some photos of the day. dbdb Awakening with Hot New CD

(Update: Awakening is now available on CD Baby, iTunes and Spotify! All proceeds go toward the hiring of our Youth Pastor.)

On Sunday, June 8th, dbdb releases it’s third CD (and first in seven years!), Awakening. This latest work features  a loosely unified theme and an unusual cast of characters: A paranoid executive digs a pit in his backyard. A religious fundamentalist realizes his friends are running away from him. A bruised and weary woman finds her voice and her freedom in the pouring rain.  A mortified hothead tries to turn the clock back 24 hours.

Members of the band and the few fans in-the-know are calling Awakening dbdb’s best effort yet. The release is dbdb’s first to be available for download on iTunes and Amazon. In another first, the CD includes a link to a companion manifesto, complete with lyrics, photos, and background on the writing of each song.
